It's been a little while since anyone has updated. I still love the idea behind this blog; therefore, I want to help keep it going if possible--if you're there?
The school I'm going to is a little untraditional. Sitting in the same classroom for 6 hours everyday for a year seems more like grade school than grad school, but that's okay. Anything to help me get done! One little ray of light in my week is on Wednesdays when Bro. Anderson comes to give us an Institute lesson. He's really insightful, more so than I could ever be, and I thought I'd share something from his Valentine's lesson.
Bro. Anderson is a family/relationship therapist outside of teaching Institute. He's dealt with a lot of struggling families and couples and he talked about one couple where the husband didn't see the point in saving their marriage. All the husband wanted was "to feel in love again." Bro. Anderson went on to describe what "feeling in love" means to the World. He even belted out a couple of Broadway hits. But in the end he pointed out the fault with the husband was that "LOVE" should not be centered on or described by how it makes YOU feel.
Days when I feel down on myself, which are fairly often, I'll look at Trent (my hubby) and ask, "Why do you love me?" He usually answers with "you're pretty, smart, make me feel like the luckiest man just to be with you, you make me want to be a better person." And I'm not saying anything is wrong with his answers, but something was definitely wrong with my question! How can love possibly be measured by what OTHER PEOPLE DO FOR YOU?
The Savior was our supreme example of Love. What if he used the same flawed outlook on love that so many have? What if I asked Him, "Why do you love me?" And He had to answer back with something that I've done for Him? I think it's fair to say we'd all be in trouble! But the truth is, He does. I know He loves you and me! He loves us because he really knows us and we're worth loving. Once again, it's not because of what we do for Him, it's because of who we are.
I hope next time anyone feels down about themselves (we're women, it's bound to happen), that they'll contemplate on why they're worth the Savior's love. I'm not a writer and I can't put down into words how it makes me feel after. My weak little mind can't even comprehend it. But the more I meditate on it, the more I realize how amazing we really are.
HAPPY LATE VALENTINE'S DAY! If anyone actually reads this...

Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories.
This is a fun little thing that my sister introduced me to. I like it mostly just to see what my sisters are up to and grateful for all month. It helps me focus on gratitude in a way that sets me up perfectly for the holiday season.
***
The month of november is time for the attitude of gratitude challenge. Thanks to a roommate 4 years ago, there is an e-mail that I pass around between some friends and mostly my sisters where we have the opportunity to share what we are grateful for during the month of November. I figured I'd share the details on my blog so that A) if anyone reads this and gets inspired they can pass the e-mail around between friends as well or B) in the more likely event that no one reads my blog, I can at least someday print my blog and have something slightly memorable in a journal of sorts and C) so we can all laugh at how shallow I am when it comes to making these lists.
Here's more details:
It's that time again! You can either accept or decline this challenge, but it really
isn't that difficult, and the results are wonderful, so I would advise you
to accept! It is time for the Attitude of Gratitude Challenge!
For those of you who have not played before, the "CODE" is outlined below.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
Each day during the month of November you will send an email to the people you want to
include in your own challenge! You only have to send one list a day, so send it to as many
people as you like! Each daily email will contain *3* "things" for which you are grateful.
[Except for the week of Thanksgiving (November 19th to 25th). All entries this week must contain
*5 "*things"].
Definition of "things"- the term "things" is used here to encompass a myriad
of stuff including, but not limited to: a certain set of circumstances, an
event, an inanimate object distinguished from a living being, possessions or
effects, a deed or act, a product of work or activity, an idea or notion, a
piece of news or information, a person, a memory, anything that makes you smile.
THE CODE:
- The challenge is to come up with 3 ORIGINAL "things" each day. Try
not to repeat entries.
- Your email should be sent by midnight each night. If you miss a day
or two, no biggie, but you have to make it up, no skipping! (Note:
For some of you, this may require accessing your email account on a more
regular basis).
- The challenging part of the challenge: One of your entries each day
must either be the name of a person who you spoke with that day about how
you appreciate them OR an experience involving a person who did something
for you ( i.e. held the door or the elevator for you) and you gave
them a "Super" thank you.
- NOTE: A "Super" thank you is more than a simple " thanks" or
"thank you". Let's say, for example (hypothetically speaking,
of course), you ordered a "tricky" order with specific preferences at a
restaurant and the waitress gets it all right! Along with
leaving a nice tip, a "Super" thank you would include remarks to the
waitress along the lines of "thanks so much for getting that right".
"Super" thank you's involve more interaction between the giver
and receiver and are typically more sincere. I think you get
the idea.
Okay, the challenge starts November 1st, which is today. Good Luck!
Unless you are one of my cohorts, this is the last email you'll receive
from
me until the December Holiday challenge. It's up to you and your cohort to
keep the challenge going. (Maybe I'll send an email to remind you about
the 5 "things" for the week of Thanksgiving).
WARNING OF POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS !!
Please note that challenge participation may result in any or all of the
following:
-you will be surprised at all the Lord has done for you
-angels will attend
-you will feel help and comfort
-(my personal favorite) you may find yourself singing as the days go by
-your doubts will fly
Have fun!

Recipe from the back of a can!!!
I made enchiladas with this recipe I found on the back of an Old El Paso Green Chile Enchilada Sauce can...super yum!!!!
Creamy Chicken and Chile Enchiladas
1 lb uncooked chicken breast strips (or the frozen ones you re-heat)
1 package (8oz) cream cheese, cut into cubes
1 can Old El Paso chopped green chiles
1 Package of flour tortillas (I think I only made like 7 or 8)
2 cans Old El Paso green chile enchilada sauce (I only used one and it was fine)
Cheddar Cheese
1. Heat oven to 400 F. Lightly grease 13x9 inch glass baking dish.
2. In 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook chicken over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink in center. Add cream cheese and chiles; reduce heat to medium. Cook and stir until blended and cream cheese is melted.
3. Spoon chicken filling onto tortillas; roll up and place seam sides down in baking dish. Pour enchilada sauce over top; sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until hot and cheese is melted.
It says 12 enchiladas...I only made I think 7 out of it.
Super yummy....Brad really liked it too!

Why do I hate bra shopping so bad???
Honestly, I have needed a new bra for like 6 months now. I have been putting it off and off and then some. I was just in folding laundry and folding the saddest looking bra you have ever seen in your life. It really is embarrassing. It has a bit of padding and every time I wear it, I need to take like 5 min and sit there and smooth it out so it doesn't have any odd tucks or puckers in it. It is such a pain!!! The other day I got home and looked in the mirror and totally had been walking around all day with a bra dent...awkward!!!
Honestly, any bra advice out there. I have heard people swear up and down about Victoria Secret but hello, who has 55-75 bucks to drop on a bra??? I don't. I have heard all sorts of things...I have heard under-wire bra's are more linked to breast cancer than regular bras, I hate that a little bit of padding ends up contorting after like 2 washes in the washing machine, yet I think I hate more that no padding at all and the entire world knows when you are a little bit chilly (yes, a tid bit nipple-y is never a good thing)...so what do you do???
I haven't even been shopping yet, but am hating the experience all ready!

I Heart President Uchtdorf
So, what did all of you think about the RS broadcast last night? I just love President Uchtdorf, that one of the most amazing talks ever.
Also, I was thinking about Julie B. Beck's talk, some of the ladies that I watched the conference with thought it was kind of a downer, and because her focus was on doing more they immediately felt inadequate. I think Pres. Uchtdorf shed enough light to put that to rest, but there were some things that Sister Beck said that I realized I could be doing better. One of them was the need for and value of personal scripture study. I always seem to go through phases, scripture study is really great and I feel great about it, and then it is kind of lame. Right now, it is kind of lame. What do y'all (I'm southern, I keep trying to avoid using y'all, but it's frustrating me, so I'm southern and I'm going to use y'all. So there.) do? How do you make scripture study meaningful?

Best New Recipe PLUS EASY
Kay y'all I am posting a recipe for chicken that is so easy. Take a can of diced italian tomatoes and a package of stuffing and some mozzerella and mix together. Beat chicken breasts roll in stuffing pour on type some Red Pepper Permesan Italian dressing (KRAFT) and Permesan Italian dressing works and then cook for 40 minutes at 350. SO SO SO GOOD. You can put on some cheese and then cook for a little longer.
